MESSAGE FROM COREY ELLIS

I was born and raised in Albany.  I love this city, and I'm committed to creating a better future for everyone who lives here.  That's why I have spent most of my adult life fighting for better opportunities for our families and neighborhoods.  It's why I ran for Common Council.

Today Albany stands at the crossroads.  We face many challenges, but we also have before us many opportunities.  As members of this community we will have to work together to move this city forward in the future.

As a member of the Common Council, I have consistently stood up for what is right, regardless of the political consequences.  I have fought to create a transparent, ethical and fiscally responsible city government. I've voted against irresponsible budgets, and spoken out on behalf of taxpayers.  When neighborhoods have suffered from violence, blight and abandoned properties, I have offered proactive solutions.

Most important, I understand that the only way we will be able to solve our problems is by working together. As a community organizer and a legislator, I've seen what can happen when committed citizens come together.

Albany is a city of neighborhoods.  But those neighborhood boundaries should not be seen as separating us.  Because what happens in Pine Hills has an impact on Arbor Hill.  What happens in the South End affects Center Square.  That's why I will continue to build bridges and listen to the concerns, hopes and dreams of all members of our community – so we can create a city that is poised to meet the challenges and truly reach our potential.

I look forward to working with you to make that vision a reality.

Corey Ellis
